Senior Estimator
Location: Galway / Limerick / Dublin
Job Type: Full-Time | Permanent
Salary: €80k - €110k (DOE)
About the Opportunity
Our client, a leading and well-established construction contractor operating across Ireland, is seeking an experienced Senior Estimator to join their growing pre-construction team. This is an excellent opportunity for a commercially focused construction professional to play a key role in securing and delivering high-value projects across a variety of sectors.
The successful candidate will be responsible for producing accurate and competitive tenders, assessing commercial risks, and supporting the business in winning profitable work throughout Ireland.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the preparation and submission of detailed cost estimates and tender proposals across a range of construction projects, including commercial, residential, healthcare, education, and mixed-use developments.
- Review drawings, specifications, schedules, and contract documentation to develop accurate pricing and cost plans.
- Manage the complete tender process from initial enquiry through to final submission.
- Identify project risks, value engineering opportunities, and commercial considerations to support tender strategy.
- Source, analyse, and negotiate quotations from subcontractors, suppliers, and specialist contractors.
- Liaise with clients, consultants, design teams, subcontractors, and internal departments to clarify project requirements.
- Prepare and present tender reviews, cost analyses, and recommendations to senior management.
- Maintain and develop cost databases, benchmark information, and historical pricing records.
- Support and mentor junior estimators and contribute to the development of the estimating function.
- Attend pre-tender, post-tender, and client meetings as required.
Candidate Requirements
- Degree qualification in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related construction discipline.
- Approximately 5-10 years' experience within an estimating role, ideally with a main contractor.
- Strong understanding of the Irish construction market, including supply chains, subcontractor networks, and procurement processes.
- Proven experience preparing successful tenders across multiple project sectors.
- Excellent knowledge of construction methodologies, materials, specifications, and Irish building regulations.
- Strong commercial awareness with exceptional attention to detail.
- Proficiency in industry-standard estimating software and Microsoft Office applications.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to manage multiple tenders simultaneously and work effectively under tight deadlines.
